Scratch that
I am not sure if i entirely get the turntable in much of electronic music besides music like scratch. I mean are the DJs playing their own records or sampling other peoples music on these records. and in the case of scratch it seems quite more utilitarian than some. i can remember having a record by qbert and thinking does he scratch with records that he makes of him scratching, sort of like a qbert inception. Qbert was a part rock steady crew and winner of many DJ comps. Word on the street is he is one of the best scratch DJ’s around. His style of scratch has been incorporated in many hip hop today and is intertwined with graffiti culture as well. his video wave twisters mixed animations and imagery with the sounds of his music. qberthas started scratch uniiversity were qbert himself uses the web as a platform to get newcomers interested in the art as well as reviews products
